The Friends are excited to donate the sculpture "Moon Dance" to the people of Grandville! "Moon Dance" is an iron structure created by Shelbyville artist Jay Prosch-Jensen, who participated in the inaugural ArtPrize (2009).
This sculpture was chosen as a gift to Grandville because of its beauty and appeal. We have observed countless people, young and old alike, appreciate the charm that this sculpture imparts. Mr. Prosch-Jensen was kind enough to lend his creation to us for a short time to enjoy, and we felt it would be a shame to let it go.
Another thing that we really liked about this sculpture is that it is made from recycled materials. Not only will it endure for years, but it's earth-friendly in two ways: 1. It was made from materials that would have otherwise rotted slowly away in a dump, and 2. Additional materials were not taken from the planet to create it.
The City of Grandville has been kind enough to build a base for this wonderful work of art, and everyone will get a chance to see it and create their own interpretation of its meaning.
